The Pure Parfum is Terre d'Hermès with its feet planted deeper in the earth. Jean-Claude Ellena's masterpiece keeps its signature — that mineral orange-over-flint brilliance — but the parfum concentration dials down the citrus sparkle and turns up the base: denser woods, richer vetiver and a warm, resinous benzoin glow the eau de toilette only hints at.

The result is quieter, closer and more contemplative — the winter coat to the EDT's linen shirt — with outstanding longevity from a couple of sprays. Devotees of the original often end up owning both; those who found the EDT too bright often discover the Parfum is what they wanted all along.
